The full-day conference offers workplace safety and health presentations and demonstrations applicable to all industries. A small sampling of presentations at this year’s conference includes Chainsaw Safety, Workplace Violence Preparedness, Fatigue and Sleep Deprivation, Silica Hazards, Accessibility in the Workplace, Behavior Based Safety, Basic and Improvised First Aid, and Fentanyl Awareness.
Bart Pickelman, Director of the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) will provide the Worker Memorial Michigan Roll Call, honoring Michigan workers lost in 2024. The conference, which features 20+ workplace safety presentations, will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Bay College in Escanaba.

Keynote Speaker
Chad Powers is this year’s keynote speakers at Bay College’s Upper Michigan Safety Conference. Chad is a Safety Specialist at Madison Gas and Electric (MGE) in Madison, Wisconsin and had a life-altering incident after encountering 8,000 volts of electricity. Chad will share his thoughts and how the accident impacted not only his life but also the lives of his friends, family, and coworkers. Chad openly discusses his current perspective on safety and the mindset he needed to go through the healing process, which involved five months of drug withdrawal.
